The Milpitas Chamber of Commerce was pleased to award Cisco with their Corporate Citizen of the Year award in 2008. Cisco has been a significant contributor to youth, arts, and business programs in the community.

Recipient of the 2007 Corporate Citizen of the Year by the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce. For more than two decades, LifeScan has been committed to improving the quality of life for people with diabetes. LifeScan pioneered the modern era of blood glucose monitoring with the introduction of OneTouch® technology. By eliminating wiping and timing procedures, OneTouch Systems helped bring blood glucose testing out of the laboratory and into the hands of patients.
Headquartered in Milpitas, California, LifeScan has manufacturing facilities in Milpitas, Puerto Rico, and Scotland, and employs more than 2500 employees worldwide. Over the years, LifeScan Systems have become a brand recommended by doctors, pharmacists and diabetes educators. Every day, more than three million people depend on LifeScan Meters for simple testing and accurate results.

LifeScan provides monetary and product support for many non-profit organizations in Milpitas as well as the Silicon Valley and beyond. Our primary goal is to increase awareness of diabetes as a serious illness, educate people with diabetes and their families, and promote awareness that diabetes complications can be reduced with proper diabetes management. Most recently LifeScan has entered into a partnership with Milpitas and San Jose Unified School Districts by awarding a three-year grant to provide summer internships and increase the awareness of careers in the health care field among high school students. The program is designed to provide students with practical experience in technical laboratories as well as exposure to the business and technical skills required for a career in health care. The grant will also be used to offer professional development opportunities for teachers. Together, industry and education can deliver a powerful message on the importance of education.

The Milpitas Chamber recognized Linear Technology Corporation as their first recipient of the Corporate Citizenship Award for 2006. Linear Technology Corporation, headquartered in Milpitas, continues their expansion in Milpitas. The total employee count for Milpitas is over 1,000 and 3,500 worldwide. Since 1990, Linear Technology Corporation has been a valuable member of the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce. Linear Technology Corporation designs, manufactures and markets a broad line of high performance analog integrated circuits used by major communications, computer and industrial companies worldwide. Linear (or analog) circuits provide an essential bridge between our analog world and the digital microelectronics used in digital consumer products, wireless communications, notebook and handheld computers, computer peripherals, medical instrumentation, factory automation, automotive electronics and many other applications. Adaptec’s storage innovation timeline display in the foyer was quite impressive. Founded in May 23, 1981 in Milpitas, Adaptec, Incorporated, began their SCCI product development in 1982, and in 1983 shipped its first SCSI product, the AIC-010 programmable controller chip for disc drive and motherboards.
LSI
Headquartered in Milpitas, California, LSI has produced The LSI Classic 5K/10Kwalk/Run, a community event designed for both competitive and recreational participants, attracting local families to athletes from around the world. Through the generous support of its sponsors and participants, the LSI classic has raised over $724,000 for local education, benefiting the students and staff within the Milpitas Unified School District.
LSI strives to have a positive impact in Milpitas and other regions where its employees work and live by focusing on educational efforts that directly support the children of those communities. Therefore, much of LSI philanthropic budget and efforts are allocated for K-12 activities that promote learning preparedness, skills enhancement and career development.
